Emerging from recession, from some of the nations highest
unemployment ratios is a new breed of entrepreneurs. 9.14
Million Americans, or about 6 percent of the work force
described themselves as self-employed as of December,
according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. As reported by
MSNBC's Allison Linn, these “Accidental Entrepreneurs” are
enjoying the success of the economic recovery. “Some find
themselves surprised to discover they enjoy the freedom and
fulfillment of being their own boss. But many are being
overwhelmed by the challenge of becoming their own HR person,
billing department, construction foreman and IT expert.”
Inundated with the anxieties of business development, Sarah
Hurwitz, Director of Peaceful Yoga Practice and novice
entrepreneur sought an experienced mentor. She was disheartened
to find that the seminars and courses she sought were extremely
expensive. Start up costs had left her bereft of the means for
such an expenditure. A typical business plan defines start up
costs as; incorporating
fees, legal and accounting costs, licenses and permits,
benefits, remodeling, rent, security deposit or real estate
purchase, signage and materials, initial inventory and supplies,
furniture and equipment. Concluding that she must not be the
only one to omit continuing education expenses from her budget,
this young entrepreneur had a plan that would change small
business networking forever.
The typical Entrepreneur Meet and
Greet may be annual, semi annual, or quarterly. Members will pay
a small fee to cover reservations, catering and other costs, but
in return is a little more than the opportunity to network. Ms.
Hurwitz soon learned she was not alone in her desire for more. A
cup of coffee with friends turned tables as owners and
entrepreneurs share their professional experience. In this
quaint shop, tips are shared, tried and true problem solving
techniques offered, businesses cards are swapped and suddenly a
cup of coffee with friends proves to be not only informative and
educational, but profitable.
Ms. Hurwitz's has spear headed and
organized a series of regular, but informal entrepreneurial
meetings. Corporate professionals, business developers,
advertising agents and successful entrepreneurs have committed
to, and will be scheduled to speak. In addition to corporate,
business and advertising professionals, technology specialists
will broaden the SBA's recommendation that;
“Today’s very competitive business
climate demands that business owners understand and use advanced
technologies. Technology is an enabler; it can help a business
improve efficiencies and even expand operations.”
Jared Hess, a Director from ACI Call
Tracking will discuss these concepts as well as the importance
and benefits of call tracking. Including, call recording for
customer service accountability, web chats and web anayltics.
Stop by Green House Effect Coffee
Shop, get yourself a famous crepe, or drink, or buy nothing at
all. Sharing, learning and networking is priceless.
“Nobody succeeds beyond his or her wildest
expectations unless he or she begins with some wild
expectations.” --Ralph Charell.
