We are not FEDEX

In the last three weeks I’ve received a few phone calls asking if we are FedEx.  The calls have ranged from 5:00 in the morning to late at night.  I know you can be confused with the word Tracking in our company title but really people.  There is no relationship between us and FedEx or the Postal Service.  We can not track packages.  We are not FedEx.

One Gentle man left a message on our after hours answering machine and was really upset that he had to leave a message with a call back number for his FedEx package.  On our message we state “Thank you for calling ACI Call Tracking” and yet he still left a message asking where his package was.

I answered a call the other day and said “Thank you for call ACI this is Jared”  and this man started to give me his tracking number for FedEx.  I have searched the internet and I can’t find any of our numbers listed anywhere near Fed Ex or in conjunction with them.

Funny thing is that I know those people who call us will not read this post so really the only thing this post does is allow me to vent and maybe make a few of you smile.  So thanks for listening and just remember, we can track phone calls not your mail.

If we were FedEx I wouldn’t get any work done anyway cause I’d be in the back popping the bubble wrap.

Protective Fathers

I am a father and I have a daughter.  I love her immensely and I know she will hate me when she starts to date.  So I do not blame this father for calling me and asking me if I can place a tracking number on his daughter’s cell phone.  The answer is both a yes and a no.

Tracking numbers are virtual numbers.  They produce no dial tone and they need to be forwarded to an actual number be it land line, cell phone, voice mail, etc.  As the virtual number is forwarded it passes through our software and that is how we can do so many of the things we do.  We can have a number being forwarded to a cell phone as the dad wants but if the person called the actual cell phone number it would by pass all our tracking software.  Only if the person called the tracking phone number can we track the number.

Even if you only gave out the tracking number to everyone today’s youths are smart enough to find what the actual cell phone number is and use that instead.  So again the answer is yes we can do it but at the same time no cause it wouldn’t work, at least not for long.  If you can find a way to make the number that is programmed into the cell number invisible then it can work but I’ve not heard of anyone being able to do it.

Bugs, Bugs, and More Bugs.

It has been over a month since I’ve been able to get a post out.  I can’t believe how the time flew by.  Although it did help that as soon as we launched the new interface that we had some errors and bugs in the system surface.  It is interesting to me that as much testing that we missed so much.  But it is different having 3 people look at everything as a posed to a few hundred on a daily basis.  We had links not showing up on certain accounts but others, column issues, privileges change and settings revert to default settings.  But not that a month has gone by I think we are good.  The last week we have cleaned up all the requests from out clients and no new ones have surfaced.  I would like to thank all those who contributed to helping us make our service quality better.

Thank you Scott Adams for catching my feelings of this last month so perfectly!
